SHE POLICY
Our SHE Vision: “Together to Zero Harm”
Safe work and prevention of occupational ill health is non-negotiable. We believe that our people, and those with whom we are involved, are entitled to a safe, healthy, fulfilling and productive life in harmony with nature. “Zero Harm”, meaning no injury to people or permanent damage to the environment, is an achievable core company and employee performance metric. We have adopted and are integrating DuPont, Stop. Think, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 approaches into business processes, a discipline of effective daily “tool-box” two way communications, and a risk based framework for establishing and reviewing objectives, thereby continuously improving service delivery.
Line managers, from the Managing Director downwards, are accountable to adequately resource our projects, maintain discipline to company standards, drive SHE awareness, communicate the policy to all employees and interested parties and engender behaviours that lead to zero harm.
Wade Walker’s approach to safety, health and environmental management is guided by our principles:
- All injuries, occupational ill health and incidents can be prevented
- All legislation and contracted client requirements will be complied with:
- Caring and visible felt leadership:
- Leadership sets the example, walks the talk and visibly engages with employees; leadership being everyone leading a team or having people reporting to them
- Accountability:
- Management and Supervision are responsible for preventing injuries and incidents
- Employees are responsible to work safely and to report to management/supervision all unsafe conditions and behaviours in their work environment
- Open and honest communication:
- Providing information, giving and receiving feedback on performance and encouraging everyone to speak their mind, and reporting this information beneficially to all stakeholders
- STOP.THINK before we act:
- We only act in a safe, planned way
- We ensure that our systems are documented, user friendly, and appropriate to the business risks we have identified through proactive hazard identification and risk assessment
- Active Learning:
- Encouraging continuous improvement, sharing lessons learned and correcting deficiencies without delay
- Avoiding damage to property, pollution and waste of non biodegradable resources
- Conserving energy
- Providing the necessary resources to achieve company goals and objectives
- Zero repeats:
- Taking the necessary actions to ensure no repeat injuries, illnesses or incidents.
