SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
At Wade Walker we compete sustainably by:
- Engaging ethically with stakeholders for mutual benefit
- Having a visibly felt dynamic leadership team working with experienced and knowledgeable employees
- Applying innovative and flexible approaches to project planning and execution
- Meeting the challenges of African logistics and the environments local to projects
- Engineering a culture of only accepting and delivering operational excellence
We believe that our people, and those with whom we are involved, are entitled to a safe, healthy, fulfilling and productive life in harmony with nature. “Zero harm”, meaning no injury to people or permanent damage to the environment, is a core goal to be driven by all levels of leadership from the top to the bottom of the organization. We have adopted and are integrating DuPont, Stop-Think and OHSAS18001 approaches, a discipline of effective daily “tool-box” two way communications and holding all employees accountable for their behaviour and responsibilities.
We have to effectively engage our markets and tender competitively to ensure a strong order book at profitable margins as well as ensure at least a twelve month pipeline of new opportunities.
Leadership has the task to ensure positively motivated, skilled, productive and competent employees and sound client relationships. Line managers must identify talent and develop skills, both at a technical and leadership level. Project Managers are accountable for enthusiastic, motivated, innovative and disciplined project teams delivering to contractual budgets and programs, generating cash to be able to harness future opportunities.
The inextricable link between business and surrounding social sustainability requires active leadership engagement with our conduit being our clients’ initiatives and participation in the Murray & Roberts group CSI program.
Wade Walker’s approach to business management is to integrate the ISO 9001 and OHSA 18001 systems we use daily, and ultimately ISO 14001, whilst ensuring that we:
- Understand our clients’ objectives and requirements at the time of tender, contract award and execution.
- Have documented systems that are user friendly and appropriate to the business risks identified through proactive hazard identification and risk assessment
- Engineer a culture of continual improvement and innovation measured against our framework of targets and goals
- Maintain an operational culture whereby all employees are fully aware of their responsibilities and are held accountable for their behaviours and actions
- Comply with all legislation, client and own safety, health, environmental and quality standards
- Meet and uphold transformational requirements including employment equity and empowerment targets through a holistic approach to recruitment and skills development
- Avoid damage to property, pollution and waste of non biodegradable resources and energy
- Maintain regular, open and honest communications with all stakeholders and communities affected by our operations
